This is the part that is easy to get wrong. It is tempting to turn every label check into a verdict, this food is good, that one is bad, but that framing tends to backfire. A Nutrition Facts label is a comparison tool, not a moral one.

A few ways to keep it curious instead of judgmental:

  • Ask "what do you notice?" before you say anything yourself.
  • Compare two foods instead of judging one food alone. Everything looks different next to something else.
