Free Tools for Parents
Four small tools for the questions that come up on a weekday morning or at 8pm. None of them ask for an email, none of them store anything, and none of them run an ad or a tracker. Every number in them is traced to the body that publishes it, and the working is shown on the page.
They are built from the same research as our parent guides, and how we research them explains the sourcing.
Kids' Daily Needs Chart
“How much sleep, water, movement and added sugar does my child need at their age?”
Daily sleep, water, movement, and added sugar targets for kids ages 4 to 13, each traced to the body that publishes it. Print it free without an account.
Bedtime Calculator
“They have to be up at 6:45. What time does the light need to go off?”
Enter your child's age and wake-up time to get their bedtime, based on the sleep ranges the AASM publishes and the AAP endorses. Free, no account, no sign-up.
Lunchbox Builder
“Is what I just packed a real lunch, and does it need an ice pack?”
Pick what goes in the box and see whether it's balanced, which common allergens it carries, and whether it needs an ice pack. Free, no account, no sign-up.
Added Sugar Checker
“The label says 11 g of added sugar. Is that a lot for a seven-year-old?”
Add up a day's added sugar from labels or common foods and see it against your child's limit by age, in grams and teaspoons. Free, no account, no sign-up.
Open the tool or read how much added sugar is too much for kids.
Why these are free and what we get out of it
fruutium is a nutrition education app for families, and these tools are how most people meet it. They work completely on their own, with no account and nothing to install, so you can use one and never come back and that is a fine outcome. If your kid wants to go further, there is a real lesson you can try without signing up.
Nothing you type into any of them leaves your browser. There is no analytics on a page a child might use, no ad network anywhere on the site, and our privacy policy spells out exactly what the app stores when you do make an account.
